Category: SPICES

If I say that a south Indian meal is incomplete without chutney or pickle, then I would be lying, a south Indian meal wouldn’t start without those appetizing starters. A heap of hot rice with ghee drizzled over it, is an ideal bed for a spicy chutney. It’s mere sight is supposed to increase the secretion of digestive juices right from oral cavity to stomach. A loyal south Indian that I’am in my food habits, I felt these spices needed a special place in my blog. This ‘SPICES’ section will basically feature chutneys and pickles, apart from various spicy powders like home made sambar powders, rasam powders, chutni pudis (chutni powders). Most of the recipes in this section are the traditional preparations of family, few borrowed from friends. Unlike baking , all the ingredients mentioned here are in approximate amounts and the recipes are quite flexible and forgiving. Hope you enjoy this section as much as I am enjoying compiling it.
